Pulse launch Fixated Threat Product for Media and Music Clients

Pulse Insurance Limited have partnered with Travelers to offer their Fixated Threat cover to our music and entertainment clients.

Ben Pailthorpe, Head of Entertainment & Special Risks at Pulse said: ‘With artists utilising social media to reach fans and having a closer relationship than ever before, additional threats manifest – especially for up and coming artists who may not have the team or security around them to mitigate them. This product is an excellent opportunity to address that risk at an affordable price, and one that can be scaled as the individual or groups career progresses.’

Our Fixated Threat cover provides up to £25,000 worth of Consultants Fees and Additional Expenses to utilise Special Projects and Services Limited (SPS) expertise and assistance in dealing with the threat posed from fans or individuals who escalate to stalking or other undesirable behaviours. This includes threats and incidents occurring in person and on line, such as Blackmail, cyber stalking, threats and stalking.

Assessing and managing the risks associated with threatening behaviour is vital in protecting reputation and welfare.

SPS can provide access to experts in the field of threat management, who can provide specialist advice on what to do when incidents occur, for only £150 + 12% IPT per person, annually. Experts include former professionals of the DEA, Scotland Yard, NATO and Special Forces. They act as a bridge between your client and law enforcement, whilst also helping manage potential PR implications and ultimately working to ensure your client’s safety and security.

We can offer bespoke cover with higher limits for interested clients, however we feel this is an excellent entry to Crisis Management insurance and addresses potential threats faced by individuals trying to grow a fan base via social media and public appearances.

Case Studies:

Some incidents where the Fixated Threat policy has responded and help reach a positive conclusion:

  • An international performer faced blackmail after personal photos were hacked from her laptop, leading to threats of public dissemination unless a ransom was paid.
  • In Atlanta, a group of professional female athletes faced persistent stalking from an obsessed fan, heightening concerns, especially during an internationally televised sporting event.
  • In Los Angeles, the management company of an international rock band and several band members were targeted by a stalker claiming false affiliation and demanding compensation.

In these situations the team coordinated with law enforcement, social media companies, venue security and the artists and management, to secure the safety and security of the targeted individuals and to remove harmful content from the internet.

Pulse Insurance Limited will be offering this cover alongside all new and renewal quotes for music and media clients. For more information contact our Entertainment & Special Risks – Pulse Insurance
